Projeckt : Remix

REMIX is a work comprised of multiple cuts submitted to us by invited artists. These cuts will be placed in a central ‘container’ from where they will be randomly re-mixed each time REMIX is viewed. The length of the work will be 3-5 minutes with each ‘play’ pulling around 4-10 clips from the ‘container’. The work will be transmitted through the PROJECKT website. (15 June– 9 July)

REMIX is temporary, unfixed and in a permanent state of flux, it exists only at the point at which it is watched.

Print out the page on A3, hang it in a neat spot in your home, studio or office.

The pearl I've hidden in the projectspace at P/////AKT, Amsterdam.
Is not 'on view' anymore.
Due that P/////AKT was cut off subsidizing, they had to rent out a part of there exhibitionspace. Exactly the part of their space in which my pearl was hidden!
Therefore I decided to take out the pearl...momentarily.
I'm looking for a new destination for the pearl, so if you know a nice white-cube where I can hide it in. let me know.

I started a new series of works called: "clear thinking boxes" which consists of a transparant plastic box filled with a selection of books I read last year and should reflect my thinking of that year.

The 2007 edition is at show at NP3, Groningen untill the 29th of june.

The "Clear thinking Box (2007)" edition consist of the following titles:

Cioran: The trouble with being born (English edition)
Curtis White: The middle mind (Dutch edition)

The artist that will be representing the MediumGallery at the Kunstvlaai of 2008 is Gijs Deddens (Groningen). His work mainly consists of drawings and paintings that are highly graphic and colourful. Deddens' work can be described as intuitive, visually associating between very diverse influences. These influences range from the imagery of primitive cultures to occultism and futurism. Besides the universal qualities of these influences Deddens' work always shows a very strong sense of contemporary painting. His work at API will undoubtedly show his (and the MG's) unique view on modern day art-practice.

At artfair Kunstvlaai A.P.I. 2008, Vis and Van't Hullenaar will actualize for Hotel MariaKapel Simultaan: +19' 29" GMT, a project concerning the experience of distance as noted in time and time difference. At the Kunstvlaai, a new timeline will be created, situated at 19' 29" from the Prime Meridian.

During the opening of the Kunstvlaai on Saturday, the 10th of May, Van't Hullenaar and Vis will set up a temporary GMT-Service point where visitors can have their personal time calculated.

During the show Twin Localization: Hoorn / Cape Horn, Hotel MariaKapel functions as starting point of journey to legendary Cape Horn, South Patagonia.

During their residency at Hotel MariaKapel, Merel van't Hullenaar and Niels Vis researched the similtaneous experience of Hoorn, North-Holland and Cape Horn, South Patagonia. They approached their work period as a visual exploration. The graphical and conceptual languages they encountered while exploring were directly utilized in their work, resulting in the exhibition Twin Localization: Hoorn / Cape Horn.

As part of the exhibition, visitors are invited to sit down with several tourguides from the Foundation of Dutch Cape Horn Sailors. The guides will be present on Sunday the 11th. and Sunday the 18th. of May, between 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.

About the artists:

Focal point in the collaboration between Merel van't Hullenaar (Eindhoven, 1977) and Niels Vis (Ede, 1980) are notational systems representing time and space. Their installations play the corporality of the viewer against the interpreted reality of measurement and cartography.
History, form conventions, and personal contribution seamlessly coalesce into one another.
